Clapton Mill, CrewkerneClapton Mill is a Grade II listed watermill with a 21' waterwheel (currently undergoing restoration) and four floors of original machinery and equipment including a 1932 Ruston and Hornsby oil engine. The site also generates its own green electricity by means of a recently installed hydro electric turbine.
The former mill stables are now tastefully and comfortably converted into a cafe offering morning coffee, lunches, afternoon teas, ice creams and traditional Sunday roasts with lots of homemade and locally sourced produce. The cafe has a fully licensed bar offering a selection of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks. The cafe is also available for group bookings outside our normal opening times - please contact the owners Craig and Gale Taylor for further details.
En route from the A303 to Lyme Regis and close to the Liberty Trail, Wayford Woods and the Green Way, Clapton Mill offers easy access and parking.
A warm welcome awaits individuals, groups, families, walking parties, schools, funeral parties, lunch/dinner groups, art, civic and photographic societies, car and motorcycle groups, and, of course, milling and micro hydro enthusiasts.
