Nunney Castle (English Heritage)

The striking and picturesque moated castle was designed in the French style. Held for the king during the Civil War it was quickly captured by Parliamentarian cannon fire in 1645: but not until Christmas Day 1910 did the gun-damaged portion of the wall collapse.
