Meare Fish House (English Heritage)

The only surviving monastic fishery building in England, this housed the Abbott of Glastonbury's water baliff, also used for fish-saliting and drying.
The fish house stood on the South West of Meare pool which had a circumference of five miles. Today only the faint outlines of the fish ponds remain around this building after the pool was drained in the late 16th Century.
